I.
Drought Prone Area Programme
This
programme is basically an area development programme and aims at
integrated development of natural resources like land, water, vegetation
etc. by taking up watershed development projects. The programme is being
implemented in 10 blocks of the State. Upto the year 1998-99 the
programme was being funded by Central and State Governments on 50:50
sharing basis but from 1-4-1999 the Government of India have changed the
funding pattern from 50:50 to 75:25.
Under
this programme 318 micro watersheds have been taken up for development
in district Bilaspur, Solan and Una for a period of 5 years. During the
year 2005-2006 40 new micro watershed have been sanctioned by the
Government of India under the programme.

II.
Desert Development Programme (DDP)
Under
DDP,420 Micro watershed has been taken up for the development in
district of Lahual &Spiti and Pooh Block of district Kinnaur. The Govt.
of India has sanctioned 38 new micro watershed projects under this
programme during the current financial year. (23 micro watershed for
Lahual &Spiti and 15 Micro watershed for Kinnaur district.
III.
Integrated Wastelands Development Programme
Integrated Wastelands Development
Programme is being implemented in all the districts of the state except
Bilaspur, Una and Lahaul & Spiti. Prior to 1.4.2000the watershed
projects under this programme were being funded 100% by the Central
Government. However the projects sanctioned after 1.4.2000 are being
funded Rs. 5500/-per ha by the GOI and Rs. 500/- per ha. by the State
Government. During the year 2004-2005 the Government of India has
sanctioned two new projects with a total project outlay of Rs. 900.00
lakhs for treatment of 15,000 ha. of land.
